the story is making the rounds that if you microwave your water and then feed your plants (as a test or verification of damage), your plants will be dead in a couple of weeks. True or false?

I would have to say false. If microwaves emitted some form of radiation or anything else that effected the substance in way as to kill, would have been reported long ago.

I have heard that it does. Like you are not supposed to Microwave breast milk cause it breaks down the components. I think it may slightly with other foods too, but I am not 100% sure.

Plants do need minerals and such and I know if you feed your plants only R.O. water they will lack minerals and slowly die, but I never heard of anyone who wanted to microwave water to feed their plants. Maybe the hot water kills the roots. I have heard and also do, water my plants with left over black coffee, that helps bring them back to life, as long as it is not hot. Good luck in you indeavors.

true. the microwave emmits thousands of rays of radiation into the food thats being cooked. just 2 seconds in the microwave takes out 75% of the enzymes in the food.

how is it natural to cook food so fast? its not. its pure radiation, not heat.

That is false; the snopes link posted above should tell you everything you need to know about the “danger” of microwaves. Microwave ovens are completely safe and don’t compromise the nutrition of food.

No it does not.

Fast cooking is not any more unnatural than any kind of cooking. Fast cooking actually preserves some of the nutrients because the loss of nutrients is dependent on both time and temperature. By cooking something for 3 minutes, you lose a lot less than by cooking it for 10 minutes.

Enzymes are always destroyed by heat. It doesn’t matter if it’s a microwave, oven or stovetop. If you want ‘live enzymes’, you can’t eat any cooked food, period.
