I don’t have access to a microwave/cooking appliances and I want to lose weight-how do I eat healthier?

I live in the dorms at my college and think I am falling victim to the “Freshman 15.” I have absolutely no access to a microwave or other cooking appliances. I just have a small fridge. I want to lose access weight and eat alot healthier. All I have been doing is eating out (which is also using lots of my money). How do I go about losing weight and getting healthier as well as save my money?

If you got a frig it fairly easy just eat veggies and fruit. They are probably the cheapest things at the grocery store anyways.
You don’t always have to eat a hot meal and if you do eat out get salads. That is the old fashion way BEFORE microwaves

You can make good salads and sandwiches, eat cereals and other easy food! If you buy a water-boiler and a toast-iron, you can also make soups, noodles and toasts!

It’s good you have a fridge, because you’ll need it to store all the fresh fruits and veggies you need! You can munch on baby carrots instead of chips, have some strawberries for a sweet fix. If you drink soda, cut it out of your diet! I know it’s hard, but you want to drink water! WATER!!! Trust me, soda (even diet) is baddddd for you. If you’re eating out a lot, try to change the food you get to simple things like salads, chicken (roasted or grilled, NOT fried) and things like that. Also, if you drink at college (I don’t know your views on that), alcohol can make you gain weight like crazyyy, especially beer. Cut back on that kinda thing, workout in your spare time and you should be good!

When you eat out order chicken, eat no bread and no fries. It takes discilpline how ever it can be done. If you really want to lose and your in college, take longer walks and start running. Running reduces stress and gets your blood moving so therefore you will be burning calories all day long and not know it. Also drink more water! I have lost 3 ibs a week just by running and drinking water BEFORE i eat! I know work out 3 days a week and I don’t eat bread products. You can do it you just have to want to!! Hope this helps!

You mentioned a small fridge, load it up with fruits and veggies and a low
fat salad dressing. Try cold cereal with milk. Yogurt, Tuna & Bread, peanut
butter sandwitch , cold cuts, juice and water.

south beach makes a few fridge tortilla wraps that come NOT frozen and you dont freeze them at all. keep tuna on hand and you can also have mayo packages that dont have to be in the fridge…pork rinds are amesome…..
exercise and you wont have to worry so much about what you eat, Eat like a King for breakfast, a Prince for lunch and a pauper for dinner and dont eat 4-6 hours b4 you go to bed.

Everyone is saying fruits and veggies, but seriously - YOU HAVE TO HAVE PROTEIN!!!! Get canned chunk chicken, or you can buy the pre-cooked, pre-sliced grilled chicken near the lunch meat in the grocery store, canned tuna.
Use these to make a meal out of a salad. Be sure to use LOW-FAT salad dressing. Remember that losing weight isn’t about carbs and calories, it’s about BAD CARBS (potato chips, spaghetti) and FAT CALORIES (calories from fat). Lessen the fat intake in your diet and you will lose weight. Eat lean meats (chicken and fish) and LEARN TO READ THE LABELS. Try to eat food with less than 30 calories from fat per serving.
Also, try sprinkling any cajun spice on the meat. Add any spice you like, just don’t add Buttermilk Ranch or Blue Cheese dressing. Try low fat Rasperry Walnut or a light vineagrette.
AND EXCERCISE!!!!!!
Good luck!
P.S. Ask for a George Foreman Grill for Christmas.

by a george foreman grill or a microwave!! just small ones, you’ll save a fortune and you will be able to eat way healthier. Also, how bout keeping fresh fruit and salads in your fridge?? cold cuts of meat, whole grain bread and pitta bread are great too. And have cereal in the morning and do a bit of exercise.
