We normally look at a recipe of a certain dish if we have not tried cooking it or can’t remember the ingredients and procedure. We can’t just mix all the ingredients however we wanted. In a recipe, a procedure must be followed accordingly to come up with the best result. As a person who loves to cook, I always refer to a cooking recipe if I found an interesting dish to try on. If I liked the dish, it’s going to be included in my list for possible food to be cooked if there is an occasion.

Same with barbecue, which I thought doesn’t have many recipes. I used to think that there is only one barbecue recipe- the one that I knew wherein you marinate the meat and barbecue it- that simple. But, I was wrong. There is more to barbecue flavors than I can imagine and the best example is the barbecue brisket recipe.

Cooking barbecue brisket will take a lot of time, but the end result is a wonderfully flavored brisket that gets away from the sweet and sour type. The purpose of the beer is to tenderize the meat, however if you use a larger brisket, double the other ingredients, but use only 1 ½ times the amount of beer, otherwise, the meat will get too soft.

The barbecue brisket recipe will need the following ingredients:

o 1 ( 5- pound) brisket

o 1 tsp. salt

o ½ tsp black pepper

o ½ tsp paprika

o 1 onion, chopped

o 2 stalks celery, chopped

o 4 cloves garlic, minced

o 1 cup chili sauce

o 1 cup water

o ¼ cup fresh parsley, chopped

o 1 (10 oz) bottle of beer

o fresh parsley

Procedure of Cooking:

o Preheat the oven to 325 ºF

o Wash and dry the brisket, cut away the visible fat.

o Season brisket with salt, pepper, and paprika, and then mix thoroughly for even distribution

o Place the brisket, fat side up, in a heavy baking pan. Surround with onions, celery, and garlic.

o Pour chili sauce on top of the brisket

o Slowly pour the water into the pan around the brisket. Sprinkle with parsley

o Do not cover, and then bake for one hour.

o After 1 hour, remove from the oven and pour beer on the brisket. Do this slowly so as not to wash off the chili sauce.

o Cover the brisket and cook for another 3 hours or until brisket becomes tender.

o Let it cool down in a room temperature, and then place in the refrigerator.

o Remove the accumulated fat on top. Slice and reheat in sauce.

o Garnish with minced parsley sprinkled over the brisket.

This barbecue brisket recipe is good for 10 servings. Each serving contains 35 g of fat, 8.5 g carbohydrates, 167 mg cholesterol, 680 mg sodium, 49 g proteins, and 2 g fiber.

A good barbecue isn’t easy and there’s no substitute for experience but we’ve all got to start somewhere so if you’re a BBQ novice then read on.

1. Relatively speaking they’re high in fat compared with other foods. Now I know we need fat to drip onto the coals to create the smoke to give the flavor but too much fat and the BBQ will flare up – a sure fire way to cook up a burnt offering.

2. They’re made from ground beef and that means they must be cooked through. Food poisoning is generally caused by the bacterium e-coli that grows on the surface of the meat. Cook the outside of a steak and you can safely eat the inside raw but think about a burger, with ground meat, the meat that’s on the inside has also been on the outside.

So if you’re not yet convinced about your man’s BBQ capabilities choose a meat that doesn’t need to be cooked through to be safe. Try barbecue beef, barbeque lamb or BBQ fish.

Back to the “coals are hot, flames are not” theme it’s important to light up the grill on its highest position away from the coals. This means that the meat will be cooked slowly therefore giving you the best guarantee that it will be cooked through and should there be a “flare up” you are as well protected as you can be from burning. Of course if it’s going too slow, lower the grill step by step until you get the sizzle, in other words start gently and slowly work up the heat.

Finally to make for a really flavorful cookout, why not try a marinade? Marinades not only add flavor they also tenderize and all that’s needed is a little thinking ahead for preparation time. Barbecue Recipe – Adding Favorite Ingredients To It

Barbecuing began in the late 1800s when cattle were driven out from the West by cowboys on horseback. While on their trail, they had nothing to eat except low quality cuts of beef. These men, the cattle barons, were more concerned about earning profit than feeding themselves, so they ate disposable cuts of beef. Their main choice was Brisket, which is a very tough piece of meat. However, the cowboys learned that if the brisket is allowed to cook for a long period of time say 5-7 hours at a very low temperature would make the disposable cuts of beef, a tasty treat. They tried out different ways of cooking in a barbecue, thus making a tastier piece of beef. This is how different recipes came out into existence. The cowboys did not allow the other cowhands to know of their ways of preparing it. They kept it as a secret and guarded it for decades. And that is why Texas barbecue recipes are famous. Barbecue dishes are very easy to prepare if done properly. Smoker is the best type of cooking device which has the cooler heat that cooks the meat at a slower pace. It allows the smoke to penetrate the outer layer of the meat, thereby giving a nice taste. It takes more patience and attention as it takes a lot of time to cook. The best way to cut down the cooking time is by first cooking the Brisket at 200 degrees in the oven till it is half done. Then transfer it to the smoker and finish cooking. Adding favorite ingredients to it will make the Brisket ready to eat. Meat can also be cooked using a grill but it takes lot of time. Traditionally a grill is used for grilling pork, beef, fish, or chicken, by holding it directly over the fire that is fueled by gas or charcoal. A barbecue sauce applied to it will make the dish perfect. There is a problem with lot of barbequed chicken recipes. The outside of the chicken burns before the inside of the chicken is cooked. So, to avoid the problem barbequed chicken recipes use a grill-to-oven method for barbecuing. The chicken is seasoned just slightly with ground black pepper and salt, and then placed on the grill without any barbecue sauce on it. This recipe also works fine with chicken legs and thigh quarters, except for the fat and calories which will be a bit higher. To prepare a healthier and safer barbecue recipe, the meat should be seared or slow-cooked at a low temperature. If the temperature is very high, carcinogens are more likely to be formed in the meats. Consuming this will lead to cancer. When smoke hits the bare meat, proteins are transformed into benzopyrenes, which are carcinogens. If the meat is well coated with barbecue sauce before grilling, it will protect the outer layer of meat from changing in character.
